Each year, some of Philadelphia's news outlets announce their "best of" winners. These lists compare businesses and performers that are LGBT friendly or owned by community members, naming winners in a variety of categories. Unofrtunately, there has never be an opportunity to witness a live competition between these standouts....until NOW!
In the spirit of live competition formats,
such as ‘American Idol’ and ‘
America’s
Got Talent’, Nightlifegay.com is thrilled to present the first annual
‘Gayborhood Games’ on Saturday, September 26th 2009 at PURE
Nightclub. This groundbreaking event will pit top local talent against
one another with prizes and titles at stake in the following categories:
Outstanding Dance Crew
Certain to be one of the evening’s
highlights, the competition for ‘Outstanding Dance Crew’ will pit three local
groups against one another for the ‘Gayborhood Games’ title.The event producer will select the three
crews competing based on a recorded performance, which must be submitted in advance
of the competition.Dance crews are
limited to a maximum of 5 members and must be 21 or older to compete.

Outstanding Comedian Standup comedy has always been at the
center of gay culture and entertainment.From icons, like Joan Rivers, to rising stars, such as Kathy Griffin,
gay-friendly comics are worth their weight in gold.Three finalists will each perform a five to
seven-minute set during the ‘Gayborhood Games.’All gay-friendly area residents are eligible to participate.

Outstanding Vocalist
Calling
all local karaoke champs, theater, buffs, and piano bar divas.You may never be a multi-platinum recording
star, but you can become a local celebrity by entering the ‘Gayborhood Games’
vocalist competition.If you truly
believe you can carry a tune and deserve to be one of three finalists competing
live for the title on September 26th.

Outstanding Salon / Hairstylist
Regardless of where you fall in on the
LGBT continuum, we all love to get our hair ‘did.With so many salons and stylists in town,
it’s high time that we crowned one the champion of the ‘Gayborhood Games.’Salons and stylists throughout the city and
suburbs are encouraged to participate in the Gayborhood Games’ hair fashion
show.Participating salons will enter

Outstanding Drag Act
The final live competition of the
‘Gayborhood Games’ will determine who is Queen Bee of Philly.All area Drag Acts are welcome to participate
in this battle royale for supreme stiletto domination.Performers are limited to two backup dancers
in their number.

Outstanding Chef
Any area chef who competes will prep their food
off-site and deliver it at the beginning of the competition.To make this competition cohesive and fair, the
category for chefs is dessertor more specifically - CAKE. Each cake should be
large enough to provide at minimum 75 samples. Judges will pick the winner originality, quality, taste and flair. To

Outstanding Bartender
In addition to the live competitions
taking place on stage, bartenders s will also be competing in the
‘Gayborhood Games.’ Competing bartenders will whip up a specialty vodka cocktail
off stage. The judging panel will call all contestants to the stage so that each bartender can give a brief explaination of their drink before the judges taste to make their decision. Contestants will be judged on originality, quality, taste and flair.
Prejudging will narrow the field to 5 finalist to be called to the stage. To enter for the bartending competition, send your contact information to
