John Carroll University GLBT Protest

In light of the recent decision by the John Carroll University administration to not specifically include the protection of Lesbians, Gays, Bi-Sexuals, Transgendered, and Questioning students in its Anti-Discrimination Statement, the students held a sit-in at a recent basketball game to protest.

John Carroll is a private Catholic university and is allowed to discriminate-- just like the Catholic Church. Why LGBT people tolerate and support these institutions continues to baffle me. The church does not want you--why are you there!?

Um, John Carroll is Jesuit, which is a highly liberal sect of Catholicism.

Second, JCU receives TAXPAYER dollars from the federal and state government for grants and scholarships since they are too poor to do so on their own.

They are not entirely a private insititution.

Furthermore, the University professors WANT sexual orientation in the non-discrimination policy, as does the president... he can't budge though because of the BOD.

So, there is your little FYI.
