Philadelphia and Boy Scouts to meet in court

Federal judge - Ronald L. Buckwalter - said the City of Philadelphia and the Boy Scouts will have to settle their case in court.

The case involves the City of Philadelphia asking the Scouts to pay fair-market-value rent on their city owned office space since they do not allow gay members - which is direct conflict with the the city's non-discrimination policy. The Boy Scouts claims it’s First Amendment rights are being violated.

The bad news: Judge Buckwalter will preside over the trial and he served on the executive board of the Pennsylvania Dutch Scouts Council from July 1980-July 1984.....not sure why he has not removed himself, but this is not good news for the city or gay rights.
