One of the most gracious and articulate health care reform advocates in the U.S., Elizabeth Edwards, passed away today after a lengthy battle with breast cancer. She was first diagnosed in 2004 at the tail end of her husband's campaign for the Vice Presidency. Edwards shared her story with the public throughout treatment, helping to educate millions about early detection and preventive care. Despite very public marital struggles as a result of her husband's infidelities, Edwards remained focused on her health and advocacy. She absolutely exemplified what it means to have "grace under pressure." We wish her family and friends our support and prayers during this difficult time.
