Butts and Broadway

Who wants to see a show about youth, frustration, adolescent angst and most obviously, sex? What if I told you it also had a delicious gay sub-plot and some man skin? Sounds tempting, right?

Well, here’s your chance when Philadelphia’s newest theater company, Mazeppa Productions, will be debuting Broadway darling, Spring Awakening, from July 11-28. Spring Awakening features singing, dancing, masturbation, and even more singing! Known for their cutting edge performances, Mazeppa will be the first Philadelphia theater company to completely reinvent the original musical. Playing at Christ Church Neighborhood House Theatre in Old City, tickets in advance will be only $20 while the day of will be $25. (So you might as well buy them online. One less thing to worry about, am I right? Who says good art can’t be affordable! )

Make sure you catch the show on July 26th where Mazeppa will be hosting a LGBT night! So you and your same-sex sweetheart can cozy up to legitimate theater without feeling any odd stares from silver-haired suburbanites. Plus, for you there will be a complimentary cocktail reception from 6:00pm – 7:30pm – you can get your DRINK ON GURRRRRL. (And if your single, that’s plenty of time to liquor up and mingle!) Incredibly cheap but beautiful date - you literally get free booze and a show for $20. Not to mention the guys in the show are pretty cute! How could someone pass this up?

No matter how you slice it, this is a great deal. Even if you have seen Spring Awakening before, it’s worth coming for the amazing music and to see what direction they took the show. (Hopefully, in a completely shirtless direction. Skin to win!) I hope to see you there! I will be the one in the front row, sipping a drink and eying the man-candy.
