Ground Breaking for Gay Senior Housing Begins on Monday, Oct. 29th

The largest LGBT friending capitol building project in the nation will break ground on Monday, October 29th.  The new 6-story building will be located on 13th Street between Locust and Spruce in Philadelphia will include 56 one-bedroom units which will be available to seniors aged 62 and over.

Mark Segal, dmhFund president stated "The project is moving forward very quickly. The Redevelopment Authority vacated the building they were operating out of on the construction site and clean up and plans for demolition of the building have begun.Pennrose Properties has chosen Domus, Inc. as the general contractor and WRT Design as the project's architect. Domus and Pennrose Properties have agreed to make a best effort to utilize LGBT owned businesses as subcontractors when appropriate.
The dmhFund also announced that Judge Dan Anders and Judith Applebaum have been added to dmhFund Board of Directors.
"I'm proud to be part of a premier project that will lead the nation in providing LGBT friendly, affordable housing for seniors,” Anders said. “The dmhFund has designed a modern building that is not only LEED certified as a green building but will be the crown jewel of architecture in the gayborhood."
